Arkansas State University first began as a regional agricultural training school, in 1909. In 1918, a two-year college program was available, until 1930, when the four-year program was settled. In 1967, The Arkansas General Assembly turned the college into the Arkansas State University.
It is considered to be an excellent institution providing high quality education, serving citizens from Arkansas and surrounding states. The university grew rapidly in the past 20 years and in nowadays, it has over 60,000 students from al over the world. There are 58 graduate programs and four doctoral programs offered by the university, including Molecular Biosciences and Environmental Science. Around 200 online classes are available, including courses like Astronomy and Philosophies of Education.
There are 21 Greek organizations situated on campus, and about 15% of the students are members. Other student organizations include the Student Activities Board, the Student Orientation Staff and the Student Government Association, that are mainly populated by Greek students.
